I still can’t quite decide whether this single wheeled electric Ryno bike is cool, or stupidly dangerous. Then again, I can’t ride a unicycle, so what hope would I have on what amounts to an electric unicycle?
Given that the humble but awesome Segway is banned on most public roads (but possibly not car washes), I can’t see the electric Ryno bike getting much sway with the authorities, even though this video doesn’t seem to demonstrate it going particularly fast.[RedFerret]

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10:46 AMThis would have to be a monumental fail, surely. Just one good, hard application of the brakes and you face-plant. I mean, who thought this was a good idea??

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 11:05 AM@P3t3 surely they could build in a kick stand to stand it up.
I think its great. Looking through all videos it looks to me like a real possible product. With more and more products like this around, that are not true motorcycles, but not as slow as bicycles it seems to me a city needs to put in a hybrid cycle lane in to city areas, to test these concepts properly. Why are councils and government agency’s so afraid of this vehicle concept?

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 11:22 AMThe main issue with the Segway getting traction with the road authorities here was that it was a powered vehicle but didn’t have brake lights, indicators, etc. So they view it as a motorcycle, even though it isn’t really.
This has all those things, so you’d have a better chance of actually getting this roadworthy and registered.
(I spent >3 years as a Segway Tour Guide in Sydney, trained thousands of people to ride em, and know the efforts that company went to try and get the RTA to approve them. We had RTA lawyers and other RTA people come on tours on their own dime because they thought they were great idea, even if the organisation as a whole didn’t approve of them.)
