Now Iraq Has A Fake Apple Store

This bodes well for Iraq’s post-war recovery: the once-and-kind-of-still-ravaged nation is now doing well enough to boast counterfeit haute electronics stores in its malls. This one looks a little… off, though.

For one, there are virtually no Apple products to be seen. Does the sign outside count as one? Why are they selling Ray-Bans? Are those MacBooks filled with actual MacBooks, or just more Ray-Bans? Will Apple even bother trying to shut this down? [9to5Mac via RedmondPie]

Who cares? It’s in Iraq… not exactly at the top of places I want to visit.
I’m sure Apple isn’t exactly chomping at the bit to send in inspectors to find products that don’t actually exist… hah deja vu much?
They’ll probably get blown up if they do. Cha ching.

Why is this a fake apple store? Can’t a retailer of Apple products include an Apple logo on there business display?

It is not like they are sell fake apples!

This is just bullsh*t! If I sold IBM gear I would want an IBM logo on the store front!

There is no official apple store in Canberra, just macone or whatever it is. Their logo is macone, they have apple logo’s on in store displays, but not on the store signage.

“Why is this a fake apple store? Can’t a retailer of Apple products include an Apple logo on there business display?”

Short answer: No. You can’t put an Apple logo on your store without adding “Official Reseller”, or risk being sued.

You and I both read this article, that’s two of us who care. And the person reading my comment now, yes you. I see you. Spooky.

I say it’s a genuine Apple store designed to look fake to hide the fact that Apple is funding terrorism.

Yep, because Iraq = terrorism and all.

But yeah, what about CompNow? They have an Apple logo on their store sign. They are an official reseller though. Maybe a more appropriate title for this article should be “Now Iraq Has an Illegal Apple Reseller”? Bit strange, but I’m sure you can put some spin on it.

Don’t worry, Jobs will be dead soon and then nobody will care about apple.
I really would have thought that at least one of those suicidal Foxxcon workers could have donated a pancreas to their beloved overlord.

:-) Nice one, but the main reason why westerners don’t rush out to buy cheap Asians organs is that Organ of different Ethnicity is hard to match up
