So much news passes before our collective eyes every day that we couldn’t possibly cover it all. Mostly because much of it isn’t worth covering! But here are a some borderline tidbits we passed on, just in case.
Hand-Pumping Espresso Machine for the Rageful Home Barista
I didn’t know this until today, but apparently all espresso machines used to be hand-powered. That’s why they call it pulling a shot! And here I thought guns used to be involved. Anyhow, this is pretty but not a particularly new concept or execution. Do, however, take the opportunity to say MANpresso. That part’s fun. [ThinkGeek] [imgclear]
Spotify Found Its Way Into a Ford
Love Spotify! Love it. Made me a few playlists and everything. So when someone tells me something about how Spotify was in a Ford I got excited, even though I don’t own a Ford, but just because it’s a harbinger, you know? Except it’s not officially in Fords, it was just hacked into one at TechCrunch Disrupt. And that? That’s when I decided to never trust anyone again. [Autoblog] [imgclear]
Video Game Companies Are Getting Mega Super Tax Breaks
So the NY Times had this hugely long front page story on Sunday about all these tax breaks that video game companies get, and it felt kind of like we were supposed to be mad at the video game companies? But at the same time if they didn’t use those tax breaks it’d be like someone shoving a steak in your face and you saying “no thank you, I should not eat that steak, I have enough steaks”, which is absurd because there is no such thing as “enough steaks”, all that exists in this world are either “no steaks” or “all of the steaks”. Marketing Emails That Update in Real Time
A company is developing technology that lets emails that keeps emails that would otherwise go musty in your inbox fresh, with “dynamic”, “real-time” and “context-aware” updates. Burn it with fire! Or maybe just let it wither and die in my spam folder, either way. [GigaOm] [imgclear]
Left Behind is our daily collection of chaff we didn’t think was quite good enough to post on its own, and why.
