Or possibly tasty, tasty prank. Google’s talked a big game regarding Ice Cream Sandwich, but up until now the details have been a bit scarce. This video claims to reveal a bit more of what Ice Cream Sandwich will look like.
It could always still be a carefully orchestrated fake (and a tripod wouldn’t have gone astray), but this footage, captured on a Nexus S purchased through eBay and sent through to Engadget purports to show a couple of minutes of what Ice Cream Sandwich will look like. The ‘purchased through eBay’ angle raises my hoax-alert-ometer slightly; what’s your thoughts? [Engadget via Phandroid]

Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 11:19 AMI’m neither convinced nor un-convinced. Although there’s every possible reason this labelling was changed on the new release.
Personally I think if it is a fake, I want that god-damned custom OS anyway!

Friday, September 30, 2011 at 5:42 PMThread on XDA from the guy says that the phone locked itself, and couldn’t be unlocked.
Various devs walked him through dumping the rom, but it was too late – crucial parts had already been wiped remotely.

Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 5:21 PMThe guy with this phone is now trying to sell it cause he doesn’t know what he’s doing in regards to getting the ROM off of the phone, yet it seems it didn’t take him long to figure out that the phone is apparently running ICS.
Whoever buys it from him is a guaranteed chump.
Who the hell buys a Nexus S these days?, and why would a google employee put ICS on it, it’s an old phone, unless, if it is real, he happened to snare the only (or one of few) units that they used for testing to ensure ICS works on it.
