It sounds like the worst kind of Frankenstein science, but scientists at the Tokyo Institute Of Technology have managed to make artificial bone out of fish scales.
Why would you make artificial bone from fish scales? There’s a couple of key reasons, most notably that it beats using pig collagen, due to the low risk vector for transmittable diseases, as well as the higher density possible and the speed at which bone forms when it’s made from the scales.
