Happy Father’s Day: Did You Give Or Get A Gadget?

Gizmodo AU

Nice one guys. Did you pick-up some power tools from Bunnings? A Philips Airfyer to help your old man’s cholesterol? Maybe you got him a discount deal on 10 laps in a V8 race car…or as a dad yourself, you scored some new tech toys of your own. Drop us a note within – some fellow readers may still be looking for last-minute ideas.

    Got him an energy moniter so he can yell at us even more for leaving the lights on and also got him a head torch as he works up in the roof a bit. Think he liked em both!

    You can always get what my kid’s get me…nothing! At best it could be said that they are embarrassed to have me as their father.

      Dude, that’s serious,…don’t do anything silly now! Ya gotta keep in mind that the current generation of kids are for the most part, selfish little pricks. But it’s OK, because when they have kids they’ll realize just what being a parent’s about!! Personally, I have no complaints so far!! 3}

        Well I didn’t get my dad anything either but in my defence it was less from selfishness and more from the fact I couldn’t think of anything that would be needed by a guy who’s been dead for a quarter century. Maybe urn polish but then I’d have to be the one to put it on, he’s such lazy bugger…

        Yes, because previous generations’ kids weren’t selfish little pricks at all. They were lovely cherubs. And politicians were honest, and you could leave your door unlocked.

            I did some research before purchasing, and I could not find a system that was drastically cheaper. Please keep in mind here that the two 27inch 2560x1440px displays are my top reason for wanting this set up. There is a DELL monitor that does that res, but from memory the PC tower build would have been about 800ish cheaper. Which for me, was not enough of a saving.

              Thanks Rhys, you’re right on the money, I am a graphic designer and those screens are going to be amazing to work on. wsDK is right about the heafty price but I justified it to myself (read wife) by likening myself to a salesperson working hard for 10 years in a reliable old shitbox, and then one day when he has a nice bit of tax back and says fuck it, lets go to work in a BMW. :D

          Good to see you bought the ram from a 3rd party. The biggest wtf with Macs is how much the ram upgrades cost. Easily double what it should be :O weird as

          Last bad thing is the SSD. The ones Apple uses are teh failz, in price AND performance. Better idea would’ve been to pickup a Vertex 3 or Agility 3 from a 3rd party too.

      :O Really? I didn’t know ME3 was going to have voice commands. Sweet, now I’m happy I have a kinect. I really don’t use it at all, the games are too laggy.

        This is Australia, Kinect Ddoesn’t have voice support yet, unlikely to see it before ME3 arrives from current forecasts.
        Still, if you enjoy seeing your kids do the invisible hula, punching the air or jumping for no reason, I’m sure you’ll get plenty out of it.

        Also, got my dad a record player which can convert records into MP3s on flash drives or SD cards. He has a huge collection of records still.

    My eldest daughter took me to see “Final Destination 5″. It’s been our thing to see each of the Final Destination movies together and it just opened so it was good timing. Harmless brainless fun. I quite enjoyed it. Quite a few laughs and sqeamish moments (if you are into that sort of thing). Actually I consider the opening credits one of the best credit sequences I have seen.
