World War 2, In Full Color

There weren’t many colour photographs taken in World War 2, but there were a few, and In Focus has a nice look at a selected few with this week’s edition of their weekly tribute to that global conflict.

While many of the shots were staged, In Focus’s Alan Taylor notes these people and their jobs were the real deal. There were 1,600 photographs in all, most of them of women in war factories or workers conducting other homefront activities here in the States. The captions included with the photos, for better or worse, are the originals. [In Focus]

These photos have been brilliantly restored, they look almost like they have been re-staged and shot today.

It is excellent we have the technology today to keep images like this, with out the fear of degradation and total loss. Especially when they reflect an important part of history.

    Like Star Trek:TOS on Blu-Ray :-p
