Virgin Galactic Passengers Able To Tweet And Facebook From Space

Fab Runway Girl Mary Kirby is reporting that SpaceShipTwo will have internet connectivity for passengers.

Virgin Galactic is now shopping for a system that would allow their suborbinauts to connect to the web while enjoying their space ride. I already can imagine myself looking at tweets and Instagrams, green of envy.

It is not clear if Virgin Galactic’s users would be able to connect to the internet during the whole trip. Passengers will take off from Spaceport America, New Mexico, inside SpaceShipTwo’s 12 feet (3.66 meters) long by 7.5 feet (2.28 meter) in diameter cabin. Its mothership, WhiteKnightTwo, will fly the 27-foot wingspan spacecraft to its launch point. There, it will detach and fire its rockets to take six suborbinauts to an altitude of 100 kilometers for a few minutes. All that for $US200,000 a head.

The internet connection will be included on the ticket. [Runway Girl]
