Don’t get me wrong. The idea sounds nice on paper. The speaker has and continues to draw comparisons to larger, heavier duty speakers. And mounting it to your bike would invite all sorts of tandem bicycle romance fantasies. Right? No? Well, that’s the thing. Do you really wanna be that guy blaring Tears for Fears on his bike in the middle of traffic? [SoundMatters via Wired]

Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 9:57 AMI’ve been cycling for about 17 years, and know how absolutely suicidal you would have to be to wear TWO headphones in your ears whilst cycling. Try listening to some blaring AC/DC with in-game music turned down in a game of CS and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
It may look dorky, but it may also save your life.

Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11:01 AMGreat idea. Of of the reasons many people prefer to drive to work is due to the atmosphere a car can give you while you’re in it. A lot of that atmosphere will come from the music you listen to.
Unfortunately listening to music on your bike with sound cancelling headphones can be deadly and not listening to music at all can get boring.
This seems like a reasonable compromise that I think I would go for.
