Sony’s Vaio Z Torn Apart By A Wild Pack Of Sony Engineers

Gizmodo AU

Usually product teardown videos are done by third parties interested in the engineering that goes into new gadgets. Now Sony’s getting into the game, tearing apart own of its own shiny new Vaio Z laptops. At four grand a pop, I’m glad it’s them and not me.

We’ve only just reviewed the Sony Vaio Z, and already it’s broken!

Or to be strictly accurate, broken apart. The interesting bit here — apart from the naked notebook goodness — is that this isn’t a third party doing the teardown; it’s an official Sony video instead, originally embedded on the Sony Vaio Engineer Blog. If you’ve ever wondered how so many components can fit inside a thin and light laptop, it’s an extremely detailed and lengthy (albeit expensive) look.

I love it, I wanted one but ended up buying an S series a few months ago because the idiots at VideoPro in Brisbane/Gold Coast both told me that a new Z wouldn’t happen. That Sony had pulled it out of the AU market blah blah. In the back of my mind I knew it was horseshit to try and get me to buy the S series now, but at the same time I didn’t want to wait to find out if it was even going to exist, then wait again for it to actually be released. I guess this is both Sony and Videopro’s fault. Sony should say “old Z is gone, new one coming soon” and Videopro shouldn’t be such douchebags. Sure it sells stock “now” but makes people disrespect them and Sony. They really should be crushed by Sony for lying to customers – it’s not cool.
