Some people might imeediately think of words like “crazy” or phrases like “batshit insane” when they see this “Skylining” video out of France, but those are misnomers. True crazies wouldn’t use a safety line. [Skyliners Paris Trailer via kottke]

Monday, August 22, 2011 at 1:27 PMHahah that’s pretty cool. Not like it’s any weirder than people skydiving or bungee jumping considering the safety lines they’ve got.
Gotta agree with jughead that “Man on Wire” was an amazing doco. Emotional, powerful and mesmerizing with the absolute absurdity of the feat.
I mean this is definitely cool, especially seeing them do it in HD video, but it doesn’t have that some power that Man on Wire had. Regardless, freakin’ cool though.

Monday, August 22, 2011 at 3:42 PMReally? They are pretty bomb-proof. Climbers fall on them everyday, and reports of them genuinely failing are rare as hens teeth. Usually problems relate to using an inappropriate karabiner for the task at hand, there being many different types.
