Though New York City largely managed to avoid the wrath of Hurricane Irene, the windy bitch still managed to strip the soul of the city that never sleeps. Watch it. It was like a post-apocalyptic city evaporated of life and people.
I was surprised that New Yorkers actually heeded the advice of authorities and stayed in. Two filmmakers, Felix Thompson and Brandon Roots, didn’t. They went around the city documenting what NYC looked like during Hurricane Irene. It’s chillingly peaceful to see life come to a halt. They queue so quietly and politely. :)

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11:45 AM“…the city that never sleeps…”? I don’t know of any city that sleeps, everywhere I go there is activity all night and all day.
Many cities, New York included, have their unique attractions and virtues, but never sleeping ain’t one of them.
The photography is very moving, no doubt about that!

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11:33 PMnothing says “post apocalyptic” more than buildings and streets still in tact.
“Isolated” was the word you were looking for (in wheel of fortune presenter tone)
Then again, i guess americans are attention whores – who, once getting bored of hyping everyone up, cashes in on the supposed aftermath.
I think you people need to get back to work
