Advertising-packed skyscrapers, flying cars, genetically engineered robots – Blade Runner has inspired all manner of movies and technology since 1982, and it’s coming back, with the original director aboard. Hell yes!
We don’t know if it’s going to be a prequel or sequel, but the original was set in 2019 which could complicate matters.
No idea yet on what the story will be, either…maybe the replicant mutiny? All we know is that Scott has signed to work on the project after his upcoming trip back to the Alien franchise — Prometheus. One mild concern: Ridley Scott Says He’ll Never Make Another Non-3D Movie. More at [Deadline via io9]

Friday, August 19, 2011 at 4:36 PMThe original was an iconic movie in shaping my love of science fiction. I liked SciFi before then of course, but ‘Blade Runner’ was one of the first truly realistic shows that pointed future SciFi in it’s current direction! Hope the new one has as much oomph! #]

Friday, August 19, 2011 at 6:57 PMWell, I always thought of Blade Runner in the same way as The Matrix – it’s a shame they never made a sequel.
Having said that, please don’t make one. Please. I’ll have to watch it if you do, and it will not be as good as the first movie. Especially not in 3D.

This! Please no Blade Runner sequels.
The Highlander sequels were bad enough!

Monday, August 22, 2011 at 9:46 AMAuthor K. W. Jeter has written 3 books that follow on from Blade Runner: The Edge of Human, Replicant Night and, Eye and Talon.
I’ve read Edge of Human and can’t so I was overly thrilled. I hope these are not the sequel plot lines.

Monday, August 22, 2011 at 1:42 PMHate how people rag on 3D. It’s a extra feature, ignore it if you want. Fucks sake I’ve heard 3 year olds whine less.

Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 3:51 PMI have no problem with remakes at all.
There is the point of “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it.”
People will always say “It’s not as good as the original”. It’s not meant to be. It’s a different retelling of the same story.
You don’t hear people say “What! They are making a Red Riding Hood movie? I can’t beleive they are remaking the old classic from decades ago”.
I believe there is no problem what so ever with someone retelling a story. Especailly a good story. Try not to compare so much.
