Measure The Girth Of Anything Using This Tape Measure

Yeh, metal-tape measures stopped being cool right around the time ThinkGeek started selling the Smart String, which has 50 inches of retractable string that can bend around curved things. BUT WAIT! It also tells you the measurements on the LCD screen.

That’s to three decimal places, motherlucker. It also has a small amount of onboard memory so can store the last three measurements in case you don’t have a pen and paper with you, and a small flashlight and sprit level.

Yes, this is pretty much your dream $US12 invention. [ThinkGeek via 7Gadgets via OhGizmo]

    Yeah, looking at the vid I can see an obvious fault! You can’t actually get the end to accurately meet the start, so could you explain how it could be accurate to three decimal places please? #}

    What’s wrong with using a normal piece of string and transferring to a rule or tape measure? Nothing!

      Probably be more accurate from what I can see too! #]
