Yep, that’s 55-inches, and it’s a Sony. The KDL-55EX500 is otherwise $1796 from JB Hi-Fi, and around $1598 on eBay. It came out in early 2010, and features 1080p resolution, 100Hz motion, Bravia Engine 3, four HDMI ports, and USB photo/music/video. This model also has Sony’s ‘ Monolithic Design’. Not bad at all for $1399 at [Bing Lee via OzBargain]

Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 3:00 PMA few more for comparison:
Sony KLV-40ZX1M (40″) – 161w
27″ 1080p LED LCD monitor: < 45 W
If you ever find yourself watching that bigass TV alone, you are an environmental asshat.

Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 7:49 PMYou should see the power consumption figures on my 300B tube power amp. That monster dims the lights when I turn it on, and it runs hot in the same way that an open fire runs hot. All your power are belong to me.

Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 10:26 PMHow about comparing it to something of equivalent size.
And what difference does it make if one, two or seven people are sitting in front of it. In the end the same amount of power is being consumed regardless of how many eyes are on it. You aren’t saving the environment or being any more efficient by having more people in the room.
