We picked it last week; Sony’s PS3 price cut was likely to be undercut by at least one big name retail vendor. Turns out they’re all at it.

As mentioned on Lifehacker, Big W technically has the lowest asking price for the 160GB PS3 at $298. Harvey Norman wants a dollar more. JB HiFi hasn’t gone down the sub-$300 route, instead offering a bundle with a choice of two games instead.

Monday, August 22, 2011 at 2:11 PMI imagine that it actaully costs less than $298 for these retailers, they are just trying to get people in the door since they are “doing it so tough”. Arse wipes, it SHOULD be $298. Take the $US250, add GST and a bit of shipping and you have the price. $AU350 is a bloated rip off.

Monday, August 22, 2011 at 2:15 PMAFAIK sony announced a price drop over the weekend at GamesCOM, so my thinking is either it’s just a normal price drop off the RRP, or it’s a price drop because there’s some new model coming, though it’s almost certainly the former.

Monday, August 22, 2011 at 2:49 PMDon’t both xbox and ps3 have a 320gb version coming out? Xbox has the Gears 3 limited edition 320gb AND the Star Wars (r2-d2) limited edition 320gb coming. Thought ps3 had one coming also? or is theirs already out?

Monday, August 22, 2011 at 3:58 PMI’ve never seen a PS3 themed system. Not in Australia anyway. I own both a 360 and PS3 and of late the PS3 is just collecting dust.

Monday, August 22, 2011 at 10:22 PMAh yeah the PS3 cannot compete with the Xbox 360 and Sony finally acknowledge it so they have dropped the price to finally be competitive.
Too little too late?
