Is This A UFO On The Bottom Of The Ocean?

Swedish sea treasure hunters have found something extraordinary: an 18m disc sunk in the bottom of the ocean, with what appears to be 300m long impact tracks leading to it. The team leader never found anything like it.

You see a lot of weird stuff in this job but during my 18 years as a professional I have never seen anything like this. The shape is completely round… a circle.

Those are the words of Peter Lindberg, commander of the Ocean Explorer. He and his team found the strange disc on June 19, 2011, at 87m below the surface of the Botnia Gulf, which is located somewhere between Finland and Sweden in the Baltic.

The Ocean Explorer is not a team of crazy UFO hunters, but a company that finds sunken ships and retrieve their contents for profit. In 1997 they found the ship Jönköping , which was loaded by 2500 bottles of an amazing champagne: Heidsieck&Co Monopole 1907 “Gout Americain” dedicated to the Russian Imperial Fleet. They sold those bottles for $US13,000 a pop.

So what could this be?

Linberg is not claiming this is a UFO but the appearance of the sonar image is leading some people to believe it’s a crashed object either made by humans or — dun dun DUN — aliens. I look at the images and all I can think about is “someone get Chewie and Han’s bodies out of there.”

While the shape may remind you of the Millennium Falcon, a Cylon Raider or a bloody Nazi spaceship from the dark side of the moon, and the tracks suggest the object destroyed part of seabed on its way to its final position, this could be anything, including a geological formation, or, as Lindberg says, some archeological find, some “new Stonehenge”.

How a new Stonehenge could be found at 87m below the surface, I don’t know. And it certainly can’t be a manmade object because I’d would assume that any aircraft woud have been retrieved by now by the US or Russian navies.

In any case, I’m sure we will find out. Lindberg doesn’t want to spend any money on it “since it might be nothing” but I’m sure James Cameron is on his way armed with his Titanic underwater robots and he will find out.

Assuming the Men In Black don’t get there first, of course. [Ocean Explorer via News.com , MSNBC, ABC (In Spanish)Gracias Estudiante!]

Nah, it’s not an alien space craft, it’s just the access hatch to an alien spacecraft which remains hidden under the seabed…..Independence Day was a documentary wasn’t it.

its clearly an asterioid, or something of that matter.

Dude you serious? Really an asteriod? I’m pretty sure an asteriod would be more like a sphere then a disc which is what they call it, and what it looks like in the picture, also an asteroid would not skip across the sea bed, it would instead plow into the sea bed and make a crater (btw no crater in the video just a ‘skid mark’) and the sea bed would be more broken up. So no definitly not an asteroid.

Definitely not an asteroid or it would be a sphere. You aren’t really thinking carefully about this. Firstly, most asteroids are not spherical but, let’s assume they are. Think about what the top of a spherical object looks like from above when it is mostly buried…that’s right: a circle. The “skid mark” is not a skid mark; it is a shape left in the ocean floor due to the currents that are blocked by this object protruding from the ocean floor. Actually, it’s just a geological feature but it’s fun to imagine.

I love it when people start speculating about this kind of thing, look what happened to the face on Mars!! This thing is probably a rain water tank that fell of a transport ship,.. or something to that effect!! #]

norwegians, swedes, danes, etc refer to scandinavia as sweden/norway only..Iceland, faroes, greenland and denmark are not part of scandinavia..perhaps that was his viewpoint.

Thats not true. Scandinavia refers to Denmark, Norway and Sweden. In Denmark, Norway and Sweden Scandinavia is Denmark, Norway and Sweden only. But in some other countries they think its Norway/Sweden or Denmark, Norway Finland, Iceland, Sweden etc.

Corellians were the inhabitants of the Corellian sector. While the term technically referred to both native inhabitants and naturalized citizens, in practice it was generally used to refer to the Human natives of the Corellian system, or more specifically the planet Corellia.

        http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Corellian

If something created by Humans but not on Earth is alien, the lunar buggies on the moon are technically alien (put together on the moon), as is astronaut poop.

At 287 feet, that’s a pretty big dive. These guys might not have had the equipment or training to dive to such depths. OR the ocean might have just been real nasty. Strong undercurrents, low visibility, etc.

As far as “How a new Stonehenge could be found at 87m below the surface, I don’t know”: between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago the ocean level was up to 140m lower than it is currently.

Let’s just speculate for 30 or so years, let the world adjust their mindset to whatever trend of speculation is current at the time, then dig it up to find out it’s nothing. By then the worlds mind set has practiacally been raped by random ideas of what it must be. Dig it up gizmodo, you’re loaded!!!
