Huge Truck Rams Out Building’s Top Floor

Today a NYC salt-spreading truck crashed against the wall of a Queens Sanitation Department repair shop. It would have been fun if the truck weren’t on a top floor — with a driver inside, screaming his lungs out.

Talking to the New York Post, nearby repairshop owner Frank Almona described the situation:

I heard a loud bang and turned and I saw this truck sticking out of the side of the building. The driver was screaming like crazy, he was saying, ‘Help, help, help.’ He was hanging on. He looked like he was in shock. I couldn’t believe what I was looking at.

Fortunately, the Fire Department’s Ladder Company 163 arrived to rescue the driver using a cherry-picker, collapsing once he was in the bucket, said Almona. [NYPost]

What do you mean “would have been fun”? It is fun for the onlookers. Just imagine the size of the crowd this would have attracted.

Oh, and does this mean another lawsuit about “unintentional acceleration” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudden_unintended_acceleration)?
