The results were predictable. He got a bunch of wall posts for each of his July birthdays (his actual birthday is in January), with one industrious fellow wishing him a total of four “HBDs”.
So what about you, dear readers: how many of your Facebook friends would notice something was amiss if you started celebrating birthdays every few weeks, half a year removed from your actual birthday? [Slate]

Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 10:47 AMI did this a little while ago. My birthday is in September, but I had one in March. I had over 140 wallposts wishing me happy birthday; my entire list is only 243.
Admittedly, I know maybe 10 friends birthdays without Facebook, and that itself is aided by two December 10′s and one December 12.
I generally have a rule with facebook friends birthdays; if I didn’t know them before, I don’t post on their wall/send message/etc. but I’m a complete grinch with birthdays and holidays..

Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 11:39 AMI don’t have my birthday as part of my Facebook profile and I record the birthdays of people I care about in my calendar(s). Although I’ll send a FB “HBD” message when I see their birthday come up, I’ll typically have already sent an SMS or MMS that morning.

Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 12:22 PMI didn’t have my birthday one year and no one wished me a happy birthday.
I added it last year and I got close to 10.
My list is around 300.
Says a lot about my life, lol.
