Hands On With HTC Sense 3.5

Gizmodo AU

HTC seems to have settled into a comfortable pattern with its HTC Sense UI, and the latest sighting of the 3.5 version of its Android overlay backs this up, with only a few tweaks around the edges. Video after the jump.

The video’s courtesy of Chinese blog XDA.cn and shows Sense being demonstrated on an HTC Bliss, mostly focusing on elements already present in existing Sense installations (such as the HTC Sensation, including the drag to lock app screen. The UI seems pretty fluid, but it’s tough to see much else that HTC’s changed in this particular upgrade. I guess we’ll find out when HTC Sense 3.5 is more formally launched.

i love how she has to press the back button several times in the “videos” app. the usual confusion – did i touch it? is it stalled? ill try again… oh its just loading still… ill press it again… hmm… and again, and again… theeeeere we go…

thats something about android i absolutely hate – its just not responsive enough… always locks itself up if its loading something or if there is excessive network activity

another reason i wont buy android again after my contract ends

I’m curious, what android device do you have? Does it have Sense or another skin, or is it vanilla android?

The only bad response I’ve ever had on mine (nexus one) has been the hardware/touch buttons off the screen, which aren’t part of the android interface.

I have a HTC Incredible S and do find that it can be laggy.

wondering if it’s Sense more than Android.

That’s a fairly silly criticism here. Try to go “back” on any device while it’s just started to try and load a massive streaming video online and it’ll stall a bit. That isn’t about Android in general it’s about the performance of one particular HTC only app called “HTC Watch”.

My WP7 HTC HD7 would disagree with your comment. I can open any app and press back and it will instantaneously go back.

most common lag on HTCs can be fixed by turning on the debugging setting and moving majority of applications to sd card to free up ram space…..90 percent of the time this fixes up lag issuesI have with customers
