Foxtel Putting Up The US Open In 3D

Gizmodo AU

The free-to-air networks might not think much of 3D TV any more, but it appears that Foxtel’s still behind the technology, announcing that selected matches from the third round of the US Open will be broadcast in eye-watering 3D.

I can’t say I’m much of a tennis fan myself. Or, for that matter somebody who can watch all that much 3D content without noticeable headaches. Still, I can see how 3D tennis if properly shot could work very well. Foxtel’s release notes that it’s not showing the entire tournament in 3D, just selected matches from the third round onwards, including the Men’s and Women’s semi-finals and finals matches, as well as the Men’s Doubles finals.

Uh Alex, you’re really showing off your sporting knowledge here…

The upcoming US Open is the Tennis US Open. The US Golf Open was held back in June. I can see how you might’ve mixed up the sports with the third round reference but the line about the men’s and women’s semi finals and finals should’ve given it away!

Good thing you’re not much of a golf fan! Haha :-)

(In my best Maxwell Smart Voice) Would you believe that was deliberate?

      No?

      DAMN! And D’OH!

Amended now. I’m going to sit in a corner and feel sheepish.

Lets hope the Foxtel takeover of Austra takes place so we can get some of this.
