Cool Visuals: Watch iPhones Traverse Europe Like Fireflies

In this video, Crowdflow managed to capture the movement of 880 iPhones as they bounced to and fro across Western Europe. Imagine if those lights were actually giant fireflies.

We’re all feeding them, as they twinkle invisibly. [Crowdflow via NOTCOT]

Im guessing that the straight line movements are meant to indicate flights? In reality they are probably only recording the start and end point of the flight as most people should have their phones turned off or in flight mode and hence not recording all the “inbetween” during the flight locations.

So basically the system is guessing that they must have been on a plane if the recording suddenly stops in London and restarts again in say Rome a few hours later.

Its likely cheating slightly, but nice visuals all the same.
