The Obama administration strongly desires that all medical records be electronic. There’s a much-lauded app called drchrono for the iPad which can make that transition happen. Logically, the government will toss up to $US44,000 to any doctor willing to use it.
TheNextWeb says that doctors who use the drchrono app, which has been certified for ‘meaningful use’, would receive government contributions over a period of five years. In addition to logging medical records, drchrono can also translate speech to text, handle photos and videos, send out bills to patients and insurance companies and send prescriptions to pharmacies.
According to paperless medical records could save $US80 billion a year, which explains why the government is willing to spend $US19.2 billion on jumpstarting the transition. [TheNextWeb]

In Australia, the public administrators know that technicians (doctors, dentists, lawyers, physiotherapists, etc) do not have people skills, and are very bad working in teams. I write this, as a retired accreditation surveyor (federal government) in the Australian Health Industry (1984).
Generally large organizations work well with people-skills, which is generally more with women than men (many decades of very solid research in many research areas prove this).
Idiots need bribing ($44,000) to link their ‘secret’ skills & knowledge with other people. More skilled people use their personal gadgetry to do this.
Unfortunately the MBAs who theoretically ‘run’ our large institutions do not know where the true power of any social group is. So all modernism will bee following the USA into the decline of the next imperial empire.

Linux & its derivatives (Android, Meego, etc) are multi-national “do no harm”. The Australian government, being a puppet of Imperial USA (USING “CIVILIZATION V” jargon), officially is forcing government dependent agencies & workers in Oz to also be puppets of the ‘greed is good’ nation. So Apple Ipad, Microsoft operating systems, subsidies to USA corporations like Kraft (Vegemite), GM (‘Holden’), Ford (‘Falcon’), etc.
ALL THE WAY WITH THE USA. If you can’t fight them, give in.
