This Gross Robotic Mouth Is Like A Singing Fleshlight

This is horrifying. Professor Hideyuki Sawada of Kagawa University demonstrated this rubbery nightmare today that can imitate human speech. It’s only a matter of time before someone tries to have sex with it.

An earlier prototype actually popped up last year, but you can’t stop progress. It’s meant to show how speech will be produce in robots in the future. It uses an air pump for lungs, metallic vocal chords, a silicone tongue, and its own nasal cavity to effectively mimic talking. And now it can sing!

While all this is really impressive, it’s still unsettling to watch.
