The Philippines Attacks Piracy By Digging Through A Pile Of It

In the US, we hit our copyright infringers with mammoth, disproportionate lawsuits to terrify their peers into going offline. In the Philippines, copyright enforcement requires this guy getting his hands dirty in a humungous pile of pirated media.

The fellow you see here is tasked with sorting through the heap of seized DVDs and whatnot before they’re destroyed. But if they’re just going to be destroyed, why bother sorting them? Shouldn’t this be like one of those Colombian police cocaine brick bonfires? Just toss it all in! And then when they’re done being destroyed, please give this man a raise, because no matter how much he’s being paid, it isn’t enough to sit atop a pile of bootlegged movies. [WSJ]

I’d pay to see Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Lui sort out piles of rubbish.

      Oh wait.

Because they are counting them. Better to have hard facts, then having made up numbers!

What dude? From the original source, WSJ: A government worker sorted through thousands of allegedly pirated DVDs and CDs Tuesday outside the city hall in Manila, Philippines.
