Sony’s 24MP Monster Reveals Itself

Sony’s A77 is a big boy, in and out. Shooting (rumoured) 24 megapixels of photo and unspecified “HD video” (we’re guessing 1080), details are sparse beyond that. But all that jelly is only expected to cost a grand or less.

The A77 isn’t technically a DSLR, as it uses light-splitting prisms instead of a mirror to cap a pic. That means no optical viewfinder. Sony Alpha Rumors is very confident in the info and, moreover, the shots of the big brute, but we should see the official reveal next month. [Dyxum via PetaPixel]

It looks like a mighty beast it’s true, and whilst 24MP sounds good what we really need to know is the sensor size!

Over the next few months I’ll be following developments on this camera with interest and whilst I suppose I don’t really *need it, it might end up on the wish list along with lenses. :)

    Roll on Xmas!
