iSuppli believes that HP’s webOS-powered Touchpad tablet has an estimated $US318 worth of parts, with a manufacturing cost of $US10. The 32GB 3G iPad 2, by comparison, had $US325 worth of parts.
The majority of the costs in the $US599 32GB model went to the display technology, which accounted for $US134 worth of the total price. Other significant costs included those for RAM, CPU and battery. The $US499 16GB model had $US296 worth of parts (and a $US10 manufacturing cost). Ultimately, HP is making roughly $US193 and $US271 off each 16GB and 32GB TouchPad sale, respectively. [iSuppli]
