This map data was compiled by Greg Mahlknecht using resources he found on the internet. It shows the major pipes flowing from Europe to North America and those from Asia to Australia and Africa. The map is a work in progress and Mahlknecht is asking for help to improve the detail and accuracy of this underwater map.
Take a few minutes from your busy day to check it out. It’s always interesting to see where the big pipes travel, especially those string across long distances like the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean. [Cable Map via TechCentral]

Friday, July 15, 2011 at 5:49 PMisnt this really bad to be on the internet? I mean considering a person who may dislike a certain country could try to sabotage these cables?

Monday, July 18, 2011 at 1:29 PMYup… I mean if you can go out in the middle of the ocean or down hundreds of thousands of metres, then go right ahead and try and sabotage the cables… you’d also have to get more than one because if one goes down, traffic just gets re-routed through the others..

Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 12:26 AMAustralia so needs to take advantage of that 5.2TB link through Auckland – could quadruple our current speeds to the USA if we did!
I hope Telstra or NBN are listening! (doubt they are though!)

Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:43 AMWe would have an NBN already via Telstra like 7-8 years ago but the government blocked them.
Therefore blame your bad DSL on the gov.
