‘Every Android Device’ Affected By HTC Patent Infringement

Hyperbole ahoy! Friday’s ITC pro-Apple patent ruling against HTC is creating waves this weekend because it theoretically means a number of Android handsets could be barred from sale within the U.S. beginning in December.

For Google, this is potentially devastating news, as it was discovered the two infringed patents in question are “are part of the Android architecture, rather than unique enhancements made by HTC,” reports AppleInsider.

This would make a quick fix hard to implement because changing the offending technology to something that does not violate Apple’s patents would mean “fundamental changes to the Android architecture,” said FOSS patents expert Florian Mueller in a blog post this week.

A review is underway, with a final ITC decision set to be made in December. [FOSS Patents via AppleInsider]

Not just “Every Android Device”, it affect every CPU/MC control device which use I/O. US patent system is a joke.

One thing i have learned, “Apple is always right”.

dont go against BigBrother; i tried to for years but i have since converted. There is something satisfying about not having to think, and letting Master Jobs do it all for you.

Come over friends, you wont regret it.

Please note that Apple lost big way to Nokia recently, and there are still other outstanding cases against Apple by Microsoft, RIM and Motorola.

and so it begins. . .

the time where Apple is the only Smartphone Maker in the world is soon to be upon us.

got to love Apple’s strategy: If you can’t win over people with your own products, sue everyone else out of the market.

I completely agree, they finally have worthy competition from Android and WP7 and they go about suing the opposition because they’re too afraid of losing.

If the iProducts were so superior then Apple shouldn’t care what other companies are trying to do.

AND even if HTC (or Android) have copied something from Apple… I simply ask Jobs, didn’t your mother ever teach you to share! and quit stifling technological advancement just because you want to be the only kid on the block.

Way to run a business, ‘just share and let everyone get rich.’

And regards the comment on Apple not caring I’m afraid the old saying would apply “If you’re not playing the game, you are losing.”

Leave it for someone else to not care, they are responsible for profits to shareholders and they are operating within the bounds of a silly legal system.

Play by the wistle and carefully remember what is/isn’t important in the eyes of the referee.

Holy cluster-f@€# Jobs-man! Do you want no competition at all? This won’t improve your product, just alienate customers everywhere!
Not impressed, not just with Apple in their patenting of minutiae, but with the US Patent system.

Glennc I love it.. you are so right. Apple it seems has the secret service at it’s heels to do as they wish, does the United States not realise how truly evil Apple is ?

What is it with Apple & Steve Jobs? They don’t just want to dominate, they want to rule too.

They seem to want to kill off all competition and create a world full of Apple clones.

Fantastic news. Apple products are better, anyway. I’m totally not jumping on the “I use Android and that makes me so alternative…” bandwagon that a lot of saddos are on, right now.

Yeah… I’d MUCH rather be one of the mindless drones that picks up a crApple product even though there are superior devices out there, and even though I won’t use 99% of it’s functionality (except playing angry Birds and updating Facebook).

Marketing…. Gotta love how it fools people so well.

My gorm – these are hardly even real patents:

Find thing A in thing B by matching name of thing A to things in thing B…

This is exactly how my teacher did roll call in 1984 – I think she should sue Apple for infringing on her brilliance

Hahaha that’s hilarious. Apple has ripped off other people’s ideas every single step of the way (except the very first Mac which was brilliant for its time).

Apple came back with: iPod – iRiver rip off
Next: iPhone – Windows Phone rip off

I hate how sucked in to the marketing people get!

ok, let’s step away from the ios is better than android and vice versa
and the lets sue each other because it’s fun and costs the end consumer more money.

the real problem here is how such a generic patent was registered

for those that actually read the patent – pretty much apple holds a claim to anyone who uses some form or method (without specifics) to use a server to accept objects/strings/whatever search through it and try to match items in it then assign a range of option(s) as to what to do with the found item

    ludicrous!
