Double Leg Transplant Gives Man A Chance To Walk Again

Some may see despair when they look upon a double amputee in a wheelchair, but Spanish Surgeon Pedro Cavadas saw an opportunity.

Cavadas and a team of doctors at La Fe hospital in Valencia performed the world’s first double leg transplant on this unidentified amputee. The patient was stuck in a wheelchair after losing both legs in an above the knee amputation. Now he may walk again. [Ottawa Citizen via Ubergizmo; Shutterstock/ Rhonda R]

Great story, worth reading the original article.

As it says this “brings hope to other patients who have suffered amputations”

(The name Cavadas [ironically] similar to cadavers though)
