Roberts, a 33-year-old man, used a 10-inch circular saw on his 15-year-old son’s arm cast. The authorities have no idea why Roberts wanted to saw it off, but when he did, he sliced through his kid’s right thumb and almost cut off the middle of his son’s index finger. Roberts has been charged with aggravated child abuse. Don’t play doctor, folks. [NBC Miami]

Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 12:01 PM10+ years ago, my family went to America on holidays. While there, it was time to take a cast off my little sister’s arm. Went to a GP, was told it’d cost ~$USD350 (which at the time was about $AUD500) so we bought a saw for ~$10 and carefully got the thing off ourselves.
Using a bloody power tool was sheer stupidity. But if circumstances haven’t changed over there, I can understand why he didn’t go to a doctor!

Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 6:17 PMHow about my aunt who went and had a $20,000 USD operation, thank god she had travel insurance.
If I was over there, I’d do exactly the same thing, using a saw was admittedly incredibly dumb.
