Good news Apple fans of Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains. Apple’s 11th Aussie store opens its doors at 9am on July 23, and will include all things Jobsian, including a Genius Bar. Chances are you’ll also get to try OS X Lion on the new MacBook Air, too.
After a false start earlier this month, both are now widely expected to arrive together mid this week. We’ll have to wait and see.
If you’re heading out the new Penrith store, send us your pictures and we’ll post them here. Bonus points if you can capture some amusing candid moments!

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 2:59 PMThe fact that I could care less about an Apple Store opening aside, as a former penrith and Blue Mountains resident, I <3 that Gizmodo cares to report about things happening in the west.

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 3:25 PMExactly what we don’t need. A hub more idiotic Apple fans to congregrate and annoy people.
I don’t know what’s wrong with buying an Apple iToy from JB HiFi or a carrier branch or wherever else. Pointless.

Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 9:48 AMGreat choice of Penrith. Apple has done its research and knows what a great location it is. The ‘Plaza’ is one of the best performing shopping centres in Australia with many of its stores the best in the country. I heard that the Penrith Target store has the largest % profit of any Target store, along with the Harvey Norman on Mulgoa Rd.
This is also fantastic for users of all Apple products in Western Sydney who now dont have to travel to Castle Hill or the City for warranty repairs etc.
All we need now is for Apple to sponsor the mighty Penrith Panthers!

Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 11:25 PMInteresting comments re the new store. I thinks it’s awesome that they’ve chosen Penrith. The apple store is magical. Products are brilliant. And genius bar is customer service at its best. If more companies were like apple they too would be stealing market share left, right and centre.

Friday, July 22, 2011 at 7:06 PMBrillian! Penrith is a growing, MODERN area that is becoming one of sydneys trendiest suburbs. Long-gone are the days of “bogans” or “westies” living in the western suburbs, and residents are welcoming the changes as a modern, young suburb.

Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 2:47 PMGone are the bogans and the westies?
O_O BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHA. Seriously? Where do you frequent? The Museum of Fire?
We have a saying in the mountains; there’s never a good enough reason to go to Penrith.
And not even a Mac store would entice me.

Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 2:41 PMPenrith is a ‘trendy suburb’? Are you high?
It is a hole, and there is still a very high proportion of bogans living there.
seriously
Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 3:17 PMwhy is it a hole? its so funny how people are always so quick to make comments and shoot words like “hole” around without any real meaning or evidence to explain.
I moved to penrith 12 months ago, having previously lived on the north shore. i much prefer it in penrith and i can’t find ANY reason for penrith to have a bad reputation – we love it here.
Funny you say that, “mister”, because i cant seem to find any reason to LEAVE penrith, when we have everything here.. wish i could say the same about the mountains. ha
high
Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 3:22 PMI guess you think you are smarter than apple then, since all of us BOGANS can’t afford to shop at an apple store right? i guess thats why they put one here.. because we’re all trash.
funny that. how close is your local apple store? penrith westfield is one of the top performing shopping centres in Australia.

Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 3:23 PMits always amusing how quick people are to use the word “hole”. can’t find ANY reasons to call it a hole considering we have some of the best amenities out of any suburb in Sydney.
