MacRumors is reporting that Apple is working on an ultra-thin 15-inch Mac notebook. They’re unsure whether it’s a version of the MacBook Air or a brand new MacBook Pro but it’s supposed to be in the late stages of testing.
An impossibly thin 15-inch laptop for Apple makes sense. Hell, it really shouldn’t even come as a surprise as the current design has existed for nearly 3 years and it’s been clear that the Macbook Pros of the future would look like the MacBook Airs of today. Thin is in. Nice knowing you, fatty. [MacRumors]

Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 9:48 AMWhy does everything need to be ultra thin and ultra light? It can’t be very practical. All I know is that holding a thin wedge to my face or carrying a object akin to a stack of (well-binded) paper isn’t my kind of thing. I’d be too worried about snapping the thing to use it.

Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 1:18 PMJesus Christ! Apple is working on note books that are thinner than they are now? Someone get word to all the companies that are working on making all their portables thicker.
Next we’ll be hearing that they are aiming to make them lighter and increase the battery life.

Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 2:50 PMWith the $AUD kicking the $US square in the Thunderbolts, I’m considering having a friend pick a 13″ MBA or MBP up for me before his next trip home to Aus.
Q: Other than warranty and having to use a powerpoint adapter, is there any reason not to buy from the US?

Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 5:01 PMwarranty is a moot point with apple. if I’m not mistaken its a worldwide warranty.
and as far as the power pack goes its a worldwide adaptor.
kids go nuts and buy me a MBP from the US

Friday, July 29, 2011 at 12:10 AMMake sure to buy from Oregon or another sales tax-free state, either ordering it to his location or buying it there. The +10% greatly closes the gap between USD/AUD which is the entire point of buying abroad.
