A House Under A Highway In China

Only in China could someone build a house directly underneath a highway and have it stand 15 years before the government discovers it and declares it unsafe.

This is the plight of a house in Shanxi province which housed 36 families during its 15-year long existence. I can’t imagine what it must have been like to live there – steady stream of accidents, incredibly loud road noise, road debris and highway runoff.

As part of a government program to get rid of unsafe housing such as this, the residents are being relocated to a new location and the building is being destroyed. [M.I.C. Gadget]

Yes – only in China do people build houses under a highway. Not in LA-USA or Glasgow-Scotland, or was it that the government had the sense to remove it that made this situation unique?

maybe the house was there first before the government put a highway over it and are now declare the house as unsafe and destroy it. They probably give the resident peanuts for compensation.
