At 8.6mm thin, the new Galaxy Tab 8.9 (and revised 10.1) tablets will out-slim the iPad 2 (8.8mm). Though that’s not the thinnest tablet we’ve heard of, I’m definitely excited to get my smudgy hands on them! Even more so after seeing this video of the 8.9 next to the iPad 2.
When the Galaxy Tab 8.9 broke cover earlier this year, its screen was turned off in pretty much all the videos I saw. So it’s great that this video shows Android 3.1 Honeycomb and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI in action. The 8.9 recently got postponed to a mid-August release overseas, but that news could also signal a possible Australian release date.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is expected to have a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, 1GB RAM, 1280×800 pixel display, 3Mp rear camera and a 2Mp front camera. At 470g, it’s also 30 per cent lighter than the iPad 2. [Tabletblog.de]
