Those SecurID Tokens Aren’t As Secure As Once Thought

Millions of workers in millions of businesses across the US use one of these SecurID tokens to log onto their computers every morning, with the device generating a unique password every time it’s used. Nonetheless, a security breach still happened.

EMC confirmed the incident yesterday, saying that Lockheed Martin (a weapons manufacturer client of RSA’s) was hacked back in March, into using information stolen from RSA Security. While they claim customer and employee data remains uncompromised, they’re willing to go the extra yard just to be sure, and replace each and every SecureID device. [WSJ]

This is kinda old news, knew RSA got hacked ages ago, why are only revealing to people it now. What’s even crazier is that, it wasnt a planned super hack, just a case of some employee opening a bad excel file that was malware. You can only imagine what security these mega corporations are using that a simple task of someone opening a bad file caused the whole network system to be compromised.

      This shouldn’t surprise anyone.

For all our great advancements in science and technology, the one fundamental flaw is still us.
