The Video Of The Kiss That Wasn’t A Kiss

Remember that beautiful image of the kiss that was never a kiss, taken during the Vancouver hockey riots? We knew that it wasn’t really what it seemed to be, but now we can actually see how it happened:

So yes, like the father described, it was an accident. A perfect example on how a still image can lie so perfectly. But it’s still very sweet to see him protecting his girlfriend like that. Single tear. [YouTube]

Really guys! This is a tech, not a tabloid so what. Just because there’s video of something doesn’t make it worthy of Gizmodo reportage.

If we wanted this kind of boring crap, we’d go over to TMZ, Buzzfeed or any number of women’s mags/gossip sites.

    Lift your game Jesus.

Given that this was a bit of news created and viralised by social media using hand held technology during an event that was equal parts quelled and spurred by online social networks, AND the facts on the matter seem to be due a misinterpretation of a still image cleared up by a superior technology format, I think the Giz are well in their rights to point it out.

Also, why is Jesus expected to lift his game? He’s been dead almost 2000 years.

Why do people flip out over this but no one bats an eye at Kotaku posting miscellaneous comic and movie news, that annoys me.

    Good on him.

Even if they’re both bloody idiots for being outside during this.

Can anyone pinpoint the moment the photo was taken?

There was a lot of time during this video when the camera was not pointed at the couple. Hence this does not prove the kiss never happened. Also where is the tech angle on this. If you had of told us that using computer modelling we’ve created the events of the riot and the model is suggesting with a 99.999% certainty that the kiss never happened, then yes put that on gizmodo.

Yeah, I have to agree. This is not why I read Gizmodo. There are plenty of other sites I can get this kind of non-tech news from.

I don’t mind listening to gizmodo’s opinion on trending topics.
