Tesla Roadster Production Is Powering Down

The Tesla Roadster will soon be charging into the sunset to make way for the new Model S. How soon? Like, two months soon.

This news isn’t wholly unexpected – the Roadster is already nearing its four-year total production run of 2500 cars. Plans are also in place to revamp the Lotus production facility (Tesla’s numero uno part supplier) before production of the Model S begins in 2012. “I think there’s a handful of cars left to sell in the US,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk said. “People in Europe and Japan probably have another six months to place orders for the Roadster. In the US, it’s maybe a month or two.” So, if you’ve got $US109,000 burning a hole in your pocket, you what to do. [SFGate via Engadget]
