Teen Sells His Kidney For An iPad 2, Now Regrets It

There’s a lot of reasonable things I would trade for an iPad 2. 500 bucks, Pepsi, a stack of clothes, basically anything my life wouldn’t miss. A 17-year-old kid from China was a little unreasonable – he traded his kidney.

It’s a sad story, but the kid, named Zheng, from Huaishan City in China, wanted an iPad 2 but couldn’t afford it. He said:

“I wanted to buy an iPad 2 but could not afford it. A broker contacted me on the Internet and said he could help me sell one kidney for 20,000 yuan.”

20,000 yuan is about $US3000, so he got a little more than just an iPad 2 but he’s starting to feel ill as his health is deteriorating. His mother, who had no idea what her son was planning, tried to get in contact with the kidney broker but to no one’s surprise, has been unable to reach him.

Now I love my iPad 2 very much but I appreciate the heck out of my kidneys more. The stakes are a little higher on who I’ll give my kidneys away for and it’s pretty much mother, father, sister, girlfriend. Hopefully, Zheng can bounce back from this and live a healthy life. I don’t think its funny either. It just shows how sick this world is anymore when people think this is funny.

It wouldn’t be funny if someone stole it but he knew what he was doing. A valuable life lesson in making correct decisions and thinking things through i say. He will be stronger for it… Well not physically

anyone who finds this funny is sick. This is not a joke, its someones health and possibly soon his life. Unfortunatly he did something that he didnt understand would affect him, the sick part is people commenting thinking its some kind of joke.

Some comments on here prove that society is Deteriorating.

Its funny because it shows what kind of grip Apple has over some people. Sure, I feel sorry for the kid but maybe he’ll learn to not be a sheep…especially when the iPad 3 comes out.

This child was only 17. The frontal lobe of the brain, which controls impulse and inhibitions, does not mature and take over these thought processes until a male is between 23 and 26 years of age. In females it is between 20 and 23 years of age. This is a child and someone DID steal his kidney. This is illegal in all countries as he is a minor. There is a reason that age matters. It has to do with the maturation of the brain. I find this a complete outrage AND I find it worse that some people think it is funny. WHat is worng with you people?? Go and study about the different parts of the brain and what each is used for and when and how they mature

sooo… if a 17 year old murders your entire family, would you let him off the hook considering the lack of ‘maturation of the brain’?

Nobody needs to learn the anatomy of the brain to realize that this kid made a stupid mistake, least of all himself. He already knew it was the wrong decision which is why his family were not informed because I believe they would have stopped him. Young, naive, immature… Impulsive even. He made the wrong choice but he’s still an idiot. I hope he survives but I’ll bet MY kidney he won’t make a greedy decision like that again.
