Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop today provided a glimpse into why they chose Windows Phone for their OS instead of Android, explaining that with Android, you just don’t know what they’ll do in the future.
Describing that “Apple in 2007 introduced a high water mark in terms of saying, ‘this is what users expect… But Apple did this in a very Apple way. It was closed,” he added: “Apple created Android, or at least it created the conditions necessary to create Apple. People decided they could not play in the Apple way, and they had to do something else. Then Google stepped in there and created Android…and others jumped on the Android train.”
He also addressed rumours that Samsung is buying Nokia, by saying that “Nokia is not for sale”, and that instead of other Windows Phone manufacturers Samsung and HTC being Nokia’s biggest rivals, it’s actually Apple and Android who have the glory of that competition. [PaidContent]
