There’s no reason (and maybe no way?) to steal Mac OS X anymore: It’s only available via the Mac App Store – and it’s only $31.99. A deal too good to pirate, really.
I wonder how much Windows 8 upgrades are gonna be?

Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 8:09 AMOn two of my MacBooks at home I still use Leopard (10.5) Would be good to know if I really needed to upgrade them to Snow Leopard just to get the App store so that I can upgrade again to Lion?

Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 12:11 PMPeople can already pirate apps from the app store, I don’t see how this will be any different really, unless each download has a magical unique key which is unbreakable

Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 1:07 PMSome of us with a hackintosh can’t update straight off the app store without it breaking things. So other forms of download or patch etc are more desirable for me.

Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 9:23 PMNonsense. Here’s my picture: Wife and I (two Macbooks), rural OZ (or rural anywhere for that matter), 3G connection, $100 for 5GB/month.
Now 4GB download for each computer = 1.6 Months worth of internet connection (which we need for work), $160 plus the software and countless hours downloading via 3G.
Even at $130, it would be much cheaper and easier for us (and I’m sure for a lot of people) to get a stupid DVD.

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 2:44 PMThe irony in this article is most hackers get a buzz out of pirating stuff that is supposed to be impossible to pirate.
