Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Prepares You For Lion

Mac owners running Snow Leopard may have noticed an update alert today for version 10.6.8. Besides a handful of bug fixes, this update will prepare your system for Lion by patching the Mac App Store. It is likely the last version of Snow Leopard to come down the pike before OS X 10.7 lands next month. Lion will be available for $US30 from the Mac App Store for all Snow Leopard users.

So to reinstall lion on a mac later on will NOW require…

    1. Install Snow Leopard
    2. Apply 10.6.8 Update
    3. Download Lion
    4. Install Lion

As opposed to the steps for installing the previous OSX version:

    1. Install Snow Leopard.

    Sigh…

you can burn Lion to a disk after downloading from the Mac App Store and keep it to install as many times as you want..
