It Looks Like The PlayStation Vita Will Be Region Free

Gizmodo AU

While it’s far from a confirmation that Sony’s next-gen handheld will be region free, Sony Europe’s Michael Denny has told IGN that “to the best of his knowledge”, the device will be region free. Win!

Considering previous Playstation portable systems have enjoyed region free status, there’s a good chance that this will be the case, but until we hear someone from Sony say “definitely”, there’s still a small element of doubt. Let’s hope Denny is right about this one.

Great News. Especially given that the PSP-V 3G is $408 in Australia and only $299 in the USA … Australian stores know where they can stick their overpriced consoles. When will they get it into their heads – stop ripping us off or you’ll be the next Borders Booskstore…

Couldn’t agree more Tim. If the prices in Australia don’t go down, I’m importing mine, like I did with my DS Lite a long time ago.
