Hundreds Of Thousands Of Citigroup Accounts Hacked

Citgroup says 1 per cent of its credit card accounts have been accessed by hackers, which was brought to their attention by “routine monitoring”. Citigroup has 21 million account holders, meaning as many as 210,000 accounts were viewed.

According to the Financial Times, names, account numbers and addresses were viewed. However Citi says that Social Security numbers, birth dates and security codes were not compromised. Not catastrophic on its own, but hacks are never good, and when lumped in with the hacks against Sony, Nintendo, all you can think is… ugh. [FT and AP via NPR]
