The US Federal Communications Commission’s wireless communication report is out and what does it tell us? People under 30 hate landline phones. In fact, 51 per cent of adults between 25-29 pledge complete loyalty to their mobile phones.
From the report:
For adults aged 25-29, more than half (51.3 percent) lived in households with wireless-only telephones, which is the first time that wireless-only households have exceeded landline households in any of the age ranges examined. For adults aged 18-24 years or 30-34 years, approximately 40 percent lived in households with wireless-only telephones.
And despite what Lenny Kravitz might have you thinking, the landline phone is not poised to make a comeback. [FCC via Ars Technica]

Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 10:23 AMI’m 23 and I only have a landline for the sake of my ADSL (Because Telstra don’t offer Naked ADSL). I don’t have a handset plugged in, because 95% of my calls were either wrong number or charity callers, who aren’t bound by the do not call register.

Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11:04 AMYou can add me to this list. Hell I don’t even know my own phone number. I do know however it has a very cool ’555′ after the first digit which makes me want to plug in a phone just to see which random idiot decided to try calling movie numbers.

Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 4:57 PMYeah, mobile phone defeats the purpose of a landline, why would someone need 2 phone numbers for the same contact? I hope call rates are adjusted according to the study.
