There’s no shortage of cases out there for your iPad2 out there on the market, but if you want to go for the whole luxury/elegant/professional vibe, you might want to check out the new case from Aussie company Aranez, which is the first case to use high quality kangaroo leather.
Created by Arnold Aranez, the man behind successful Aussie gadget seller Mr Gadget, the cases are made from skins salvaged from kangaroo culling around the country. The leather is lightweight and durable, with synthetic silver stitching to incorporate a business card holder and fold out stand.
The case is the first of many, according to Aranez, who claims that he plans to offer cases for all major smartphones and tablets.
The price for the case is definitely in the “premium” zone, selling for $US200.

Friday, June 17, 2011 at 12:05 PMHow can you do this to our national icon? This animal is on our Coat of Arms. Your obviously have no respect for it or the animals on it. I suggest you educate yourselves about the horrific cruelty in the so called kangaroo industry. I went to a war zone and I went there under our COA’s and I find this an insult to those who have served our country.

Friday, June 17, 2011 at 3:56 PMWhy is the kangaroo suddenly sacred just because it’s on our coat of arms? I think it’s great that we can make use of the animal that we have way too many of in our country. Animals aren’t to be worshipped. They’re there for our use.

Friday, June 17, 2011 at 5:02 PMDo you also protest at supermarkets and butchers that sell Kanga Bangas?
It’s great to see that all those skins from the meat producers aren’t being WASTED!
Kangaroo leather is durable and soft, and I’m hoping he does one for the Asus Transformer!

Friday, June 17, 2011 at 7:27 PMIf you served, then you probably had Roo in your rat pack, so why not use the leftovers to cover iPads?
Another great source would be road kill.

Friday, June 17, 2011 at 12:38 PMKangaroo leather? That sounds awesome!! I’d love to have one for my iPad 1… way better than the shitty one I got at WalMart. lol.
These look cool. I’d love to see a picture of it as a stand, too.

Friday, June 17, 2011 at 12:56 PMSilvia stop being so ignorant and read the facts before blabbering like that.
In the link / press release you’ll see that the kangaroo leather is actually a byproduct of government controlled / conservation focused harvesting. Kangaroos are not killed for their leather.

Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11:06 PMNo, animals are not there ‘for your use’ unless you are very cruel and very short-sighted. We need nature much more than nature needs us – keep on trashing the environment and humans will become a threatened species too. You cannot buy rain or clean air and all animal and plant species fit into a very delicately balanced web of life that is being ‘managed’ into extinction by interfering people. The only species that there are ‘way too many of’ is humans.

Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11:16 PMYou people who are poking fun at these animals should be ashamed of your selves this is a living and breathing creature were talking about that lost it life so u bunch of stuck up wankers can have a iPhone case shame on u, learn to care about ur environment and animals as they may not be around for ever and you’ll miss them when there gone

Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 5:35 AMInstead of letting the animal die just like that, Arnold did a bold thing by making use of their skin for the iPad case. While people do eat kangaroo meat, I do not see why this iPad case has to be considered as something bad, since it’s making use of kangaroos that are already dead.

Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 5:31 PMIt looks really fantastic, the design is very stylish while still being something I could walk into a meeting with. I am looking forward to seeing which other formats they get made in, I would love a matching laptop case.
