The FCC is starting an effort to prevent telcos from charging their customers for unauthorised or hidden fees. The new rules are meant to address consumer complaints about cramming, or misleading charges for things like long distance service.
While companies like AT&T have stated that they’re working on protecting their customers from such charges, the FCC is urging people to take care when going over their monthly bills. They hope to move forward with the new regulations in the “not-too-distant future”. [WSJ]
