Built by IBM, the Lower-Power Mote system uses sensors to track the temperature, humidity, air flow, contamination and even lighting in the Cloisters’ various sections, all while using less power than before. Helping preserve the artwork in real time, it also provides the museum with hard data on how the art is faring, in a slick 3D interface. [Smart Planet]
