What The Statue Of Liberty Looked Like In 1886

Thanks to some Photoshop wizardry, we have a picture of what the Statue of Liberty looked like in her younger years. Which is to say, very penny-like! But no matter what colour her dress is, she’s still a beaut.

As you probably already know, Lady Liberty was made out of copper. But oxidation caused a green patina to cover the copper, which makes her look nothing like she once did. If you ask me though, I think she aged quite well. Check her out in her full glory:

    Looks a lot like Alternate Universe liberty in Fringe… Guess they cleaned the statue!

    Looks a lot more like brass or gold than copper. Needs to be closer to the red end of the spectrum methinks.

    Did they use a pedestal that had already been there for 100+ years? What was on it before? :–P
