Man With Laser-Sighted Sniper Rifle Hunting Rats In Moscow

Look, everyone needs a hobby. I like to read, and stare solemnly out my window. It’s good to stay active! But this Russian fellow has a particularly engaging pastime: hunting down Moscow’s rat population and blowing them to rodent hell.

Gennady, whose last name is a mystery because he is a covert rat sniper, used to be a duck hunter. But what fun is shooting ducks? They’re a pleasant species – delicious, sure, but no threat to mankind. Plus they fly, and that’s tricky. Rats, on the other hand, are nigh-universally despised creatures. They caused the Black Plague! They have fangs and weird little eyes! Their tails are gross! The solution? If you’re Gennady, wield a $US3400 pneumatic sniper rifle, line up a laser-sighted headshot, and get Cossack on their furry asses.

Sure, Moscow probably has a rat population in the millions. But that won’t stop Gennady. So, if you’re a Moscow rat and you’re reading this, your days are numbered. Also, congratulations on reading a website, that’s quite impressive. Wait – if you can read, that means you have human intelligence – Gennady, stop—! [English Russia]

    Hahahha Russians rock!
But using a laser sight is cheating. We all know animals always try to catch the red dot. BOOM HEAD SHOT!

Didn’t think of that… wonder if that’s what actually happens? Now you’re giving me ideas about Australia’s feral cat issue…

This reminds me so much of the RatSlayer rifle in Fallout – New Vegas :)

    Hi Sam Biddle,

Just to let you know the “sniper” rifle he has is not a sniper rifle… It is an airgun that is all. Using emotive terms like “Sniper rifle” is only good for grabbing attention but it isn’t right especially when used in this context.

Sniper rifles tend to be used by snipers. This guy is a rat hunter/shooter not a rat sniper.

Sorry to be a bore about this but shooters have a hard enough time with public perception and legislatively to have you go around and call the firearms/air arms we use “sniper rifles”. Also snipers put huge amount of training and are trained in more than just rifle shooting I think its a bit demeaning to real snipers to put the word anywhere near your typical shooter.

    Hi Keith,

Just to let you know the “sniper rifle” he has is a sniper rifle. The article clearly states that it is “pneumatic” that’s “smart people” words for “air gun”. A $3,400 weapon will almost certainly have a rifled barrel for greater accuracy (hell $20 pellet guns are rifled) so it is definitely a rifle. As for “sniper rifle”, the term refers to any rifle built for accuracy over anything else.. and I’m going to go out on a limb and say that a $3,400 airgun with a laser sight fits that description.

Sorry to be a bore, but next time try looking up the definition of words before you go shoving your opinion on a properly written article down the author’s throat.
